Permanent Links and Bibliography for the Web

Welcome

Welcome to PermaLinks.cc.

This Web site provides Permanent Links (so called PermaLinks).

Whenever you link to an external resource, you should create a PermaLink:

  • A PermaLink informs you if the resources it points to becomes unavailable.
  • A PermaLink contains bibliographic information which makes it easy to reference.
  • A PermaLink will provide valuable services to your users in the near future (such as archived versions).

How does it work?

  1. Create a Permanent Link to a resource on the web.
  2. Use the Permanent Link in your document or web site.

If the resource is available, your users will redirected to the target resource.

However, if the resource is not available anymore, the user will receive a notification and you, the creator of the Permanent Link will receive an email message. Then, you have the option to fix the link.

All bibliographic information is available using a Web Service very soon, making this service a perfect reference database. Please provide bibliographic information for this purpose.
